Spinifex ‘Dominion’ 2019 Shiraz

First release of a straight Shiraz from the Dominion vineyard in the Vine Vale region, first planted in 1918. This is a wonderful follow up to the Dominion Grenache released previously by Pete and Magali at Spinifex.

The dry 2019 vintage meant for very low old-vine yields but incredible concentration, and tannin. So to maintain the fleshy but fine-boned Spinifex style, the extraction was kept to a minimum, and the whole bunch component sat at 30%.

Such a classy, refined wine for a Barossa red from an intense vintage. The nose is dense as can be, with plums and chocolate dominating. But the palate is both luscious and nervy, with some sleek oak flavours in the background.

An awesome debut release, best kept for a decade.
